Rio de Janeiro... Copacabana and Ipanema Beach

A trip to Rio de Janeiro would not be complete without a visit to the famous beaches. In fact, I had the opportunity to visit the beaches a number of times.
If you are walking on a sidewalk with stones in this pattern you are in Copacabana.
Copacabana is one of the most famous beaches in Brazil and in all the world.
It is visited by tourists and Cariocas (locals) alike.
It's a beach open to the world.
There is often a big event of some type being held in Copacabana
On this day an international body boarding competition was being held.
There are places to play volleyball.
Places to play paddleball.
On almost any given day there will be people at the beach.
If you are walking on a sidewalk with stones in this pattern you are in Ipanema.
Along the beach boardwalk there are these markers that display the time, temperature and strength of the ultraviolet rays for the day.

Both beaches are very seductive.

  1. Hello Troy.
Very nice pictures but I think you've mistaken beaches. The wavy pattern is for Copacabana and Ipanema is the photo above with the mountains on background.
    ;)
